This past Saturday, September 18,2021, the band participated at the Bands of America marching band competition. The competition was held at the Veterans Memorial Stadium. The band was set to perform at 2:15 in the afternoon. They arrived at around 12:45 to the stadium, as they arrived, they were sent to their practice areas. However, about an hour into the practice time, the competition had gotten suspended. They got pushed back about 5 hours, so the new set performance time was at 7:30 in the evening, meaning they would be the first band to perform at night. The band had a great performance and continued to push forward within the performance despite any troubles they had in the beginning of the day. Senior band member, Armando Jimenez, said ” I was sad but happy at the same time, it was sad because this was my last BOA, but I was happy since I was able to have one for my last year of high school. I didn’t really know what to expect since we were barely getting back into the groove of things due to the pandemic and since the rules had changed and practices and such. I would want to change the weather as it was one of the major things that affected us all. Having to wear a mask and all made it hard for us.”
